And the countdown begins, as we speak, the clock is ticking and the gates for the Kaboo Del Mar are that much closer to opening. What awaits on the West Coast is beyond exciting, something that arguably is one of the biggest music events of the year on that side of the United States. Therefore, I took a look at the lineup and compiled a list of artists that I have either been in touch with, or believe are worth going to see. In this particular article I am going to highlight someone I actually was in contact with recently: the infamous CVBZ.

“Hey Gen! I am so stoked to meet you as well! This is gonna be a blast” he messaged me a mere four minutes after I sent him an Instagram message introducing myself. This is a guy with a blue checkmark next to his instagram name, a guy with 11k followers. CVBZ is the kind of artist that we wish all artists were: responsive to their fans. Sure I have tweeted out to some Broadway actors and actresses, but for someone who worked with Fetty Wap and The Chainsmokers to read my message, let alone answer, well that is impressive.

Before reaching out to CVBZ, I did my research, to dig a little deeper into what makes him CVBZ, and how he got where he is today. His story is one of accomplishment, achieved through clear talent, hardwork and dedication. We all went to high school or college with that kid that was convinced he or she was going to make it big in the music industry. Sean Jacobs, CVBZ’s real name, was born and raised in Oregon,  and later joined a fraternity at Oregon State University. He was notorious in his fraternity for rapping at parties, and some of his brothers encouraged him to pursue his talent, meanwhile some of his brothers became his biggest haters, as they views him as a joke and refused to take him seriously. He used these experiences to influence his music and personal philosophy. In just 2016, CVBZ began to independently record and produce his own music, cultimating into a viral Youtube video “Be Like You”. His second song, “Vicodin” was another massive success, and his viewership allowed him to move to Las Angeles, California with his girlfriend. Since then, CVBZ has performed at quite a few well known and large festivals in the United States.

On October 13, 2017, CVBZ collaborated with Fetty Wap and Cheat Codes to create “Feels Great”, which has millions of views on Youtube and streams on Spotify. In an interview with Total Frat Move (TFM), CVBZ’s advice to those aspiring to make it big like him, he says “If you’re fucking around with GarageBand, or you want to be a dorm room rapper, do it. Make a tape. I mean, yeah, a lot of people are doing it, but don’t worry about that. If you suck, keep sucking. Don’t stop sucking. It’s like a monkey on a typewriter. You keep doing it enough, you’re bound to make some magic. Dude, you are what you feel about yourself. If you wanna be big, feel big. Don’t surround yourself with people who make you feel small. If there is one person who digs your music, make them your audience, not the people you feel like you have to prove yourself to.”

On that note, I will leave you to pursue your goals. CVBZ is a perfect example of the American Dream, that it is the land of opportunity and with the combination of hard work, dedication, creativity, making and achieving goals, you can do it. I see big things happening down the road for this lyrical genius and genuine character. I can’t wait to see what is in store for him!
