A Healthier You

People have a variety of reasons to lose weight and to get into shape, but the majority of people will not reach their goal because many believe that finding the time to work out is hard with their chaotic schedule.

Not only will people not reach their goal, they will also not go about it in the right away. In modern times, everyone is about instant gratification. Everyone wants to solve his or her problems as fast as possible.

The truth is that many things, like weight loss, is not a quick fix.  Sure there are a lot of fad diets and diet pills that promises quick weight loss. But all these things are just fads! They might give you quick results, but these results will not last long.  Do you want to be fit for a month or fit for a lifetime?

Luckily, there are simple things that you can do in order to get fit overtime. If you do a little at a time, working out will be easy and you will not have to stress about it! If you are worried about fitting in time in your busy schedule to dedicate to working out, here are some simple things you can do without dedicating a lot of time to them!

1)   Exercise daily. The more you exercise, the more in shape you will be! But don’t go extreme with workouts. Professionals recommend 60 minutes of daily activity.  And it is better to focus on the quality as oppose to the quantity of the workouts.  You don’t have to do the 60 minutes all in one go; you can spread it out during the day! View these as breaks from your busy schedule to help you concentrate.

2)   Walk when you can. Walking is a great way to get your cardio workout in! If you drive to work every day, think about parking a little far away in order to walk to work.  If you go out for lunch during work hours, get lunch that is at least a 15-minute walk away.

3)   Who doesn’t want a 6 pack? In order to work out that stomach as much as possible, when you are about to go from a seated position to a standing one, tighten your abs so you engage your core and get the benefits of a sit up while you are moving around!

4)   New chair. This may be extreme to some, but if you want to continuously work on your core and develop those abs, you might want to try out a stability ball for a chair. For the office, they make special chairs with a stability ball for the seat. This will force you to engage your abs as you balance on the ball. You will get a workout with out even having to think about it! And it will help your posture!  If you don’t want to do this at the office, have this chair at home when you watch T.V.


5)   Take the stairs. Elevators are great and all, but if you want to work out your legs, take the stairs! You will get some workout time for your legs and cardio!

6)   Join a class. If you are new to the workout world, it can be overwhelming and you might feel lost. A fun way to get into shape is to join a class. This can be a weight training class; yoga class or a pilate’s class. The options are endless! Usually recreational centers, a junior college and gyms offer a variety of classes to choose from. Not only is this a fun way to work out, but also it is a great chance to meet people that have similar interests as you.

By doing these simple things over time and keeping to a healthy diet, you will see a more healthier you in no time!
